Sport
Developing Character, Building Community
At Good Counsel College, we believe in the power of holistic education—an approach that nurtures not only the mind, but also the heart, body, and spirit. Sport plays a vital role in this journey, helping students grow through teamwork, discipline, resilience, and healthy competition.
On the field or court, as in life, character is shaped, friendships are formed, and values are lived.
A Proud Sporting Tradition
Our students participate in a diverse range of sports through local competitions and representative pathways. Students compete at local, regional and state level competitions across a variety of disciplines, supported by passionate staff and a culture of sportsmanship and school pride.
We are also proudly connected to Marist Schools Australia, competing in Netball and Basketball carnivals that foster not only athletic excellence but a spirit of camaraderie and shared tradition.
A major highlight of our sporting calendar is the Confraternity Shield, where our Senior Rugby League team represents the College with pride. This event celebrates community, Catholic identity, and sporting tradition.
Expanding Our Vision: Elite Sporting Academies
In 2026, we launch an exciting new chapter:
-
Good Counsel College Football Academy – in partnership with Liverpool FC International Academy Australia
-
Good Counsel College Rugby League Academy – supported by the Brisbane Tigers
These programs provide access to elite coaching and development, with future partnerships planned in netball and other high-performance sports.
Sport at Good Counsel is about more than competition — it's about developing confident, capable young people grounded in values and character.

We pay our respect to First Nations elders past, present, and emerging, and support the Uluru Statement From The Heart. We acknowledge that the land, seas, skies and waterways of Australia were, are and always will be, that of the First Nations peoples.
