Mission, Values and Vision
Vision
To provide a high-quality Catholic education grounded in the Marist tradition, where every student is known and loved.
Values
Good Counsel College is a faith community where Gospel values permeate all that we do. As a Marist school, we do this with a distinctive Marist style. Our style of education is based on a vision that is truly holistic and consciously seeks to communicate values.
While we share a vision with many, we use a distinctive pedagogical approach initiated by Saint Marcellin Champagnat, who intuitively told us that “to educate children, we must love them, and love them all equally.”
From this principle flow the Marist Characteristics of our style of educating:
- Presence
- Simplicity
- Family Spirit
- Love of Work
- In the Way of Mary
Mission
Inspired by the Gospel and our Marist charism, to form young people to lead with humility, build respectful relationships, and contribute confidently to an ever-changing and complex world.

We acknowledge the First Nations peoples of Australia, the traditional custodians of the land, seas, skies and waterways on which we reside, work, travel and meet. We pay our respect to First Nations elders past, present, and emerging, and support the Uluru Statement From The Heart. We acknowledge that the land, seas, skies and waterways of Australia were, are and always will be, that of the First Nations peoples.
