
Our Year 7 Transitional Program serves to ensure a smooth transition into secondary school.
Catholic Education Week (CEW) Taster Day – Tues, 27 July 2021
On this day, all Catholic schools within the Southern Deanery will gather to celebrate the mission and ethos of Catholic Education.
A Mass will be held in the Mother of Good Counsel Church, Innisfail. Students will lunch at GCPS before breaking into groups for afternoon activities. Years 5 and 6 students will visit the College where they will sample subjects on offer through rotational 20-minute activities. Students thoroughly enjoy this experience and the take-home items they will create on the day.
(Full) Orientation Day – Thurs, 14 Oct 2021 (8.30am – 3pm)
Students will be offered the full secondary school experience as well as the opportunity to make connections with other students.
All visiting students will receive an Information Pack that includes important information to assist with the smooth transition into secondary school. Morning tea and lunch will be provided, and parents are welcome to attend.
Parent Information Evening – Wednesday, 13 October 2021 (5.30pm – 6.30pm)
All parents/carers are encouraged to attend this evening. You will be introduced to key staff (Year 7 Leaders of Learning and Wellbeing, College Leadership Team and specialist staff.) The information evening will address new student matters and will include a College tour and Q&A session.
Supported Transition Program (for identified students)
Students requiring additional support as identified during the interview process will be invited to take part in the Supported Transition Program. This program consists of 4 x 2-hour sessions that will be held over 4 consecutive weeks in Term 4.
