Vocational Education and Training (VET) enables students to gain qualifications for all types of employment, and specific skills to help them in the workplace. VET provides students with a start to their careers. Students can start a pathway with a Certificate I course while at school and progress to the completion of a degree. VET courses/certificates done while at school enhance employability after school and provide great part-time job opportunities while continuing with further studies or having credit transfers towards further studies.
Vocational Education and Training is a nationally recognised system, all qualifications gained are accepted throughout Australia. We aim to ensure students have the opportunity to gain the necessary skill to gain employment and to open pathways for further studies. In year 10 students do a compulsory week of work experience, following this we undertake Senior Education Training Plan (SETP) meetings to select subjects and pathways for Year 11 and 12 and beyond.
Annually towards the second half of the year we run a VET Information evening. This session is for those students who have chosen and/or interested in completing a VET subject, parents are encouraged to attend to support their child. I would encourage you to regularly check the school website for details on upcoming events/sessions.
Students and parents are welcome to meet with me at any time to discuss future options.
