All students in Year 10 participate in one week of Work Experience. Students can be placed outside of Innisfail if arrangements can be made. However, local employers provide the majority of placements.
Good Counsel College is committed to the provision of Work Experience for students to develop appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes concerning both paid and unpaid work. It is also an opportunity to extend the theoretical learning of the classroom into the practical applications of the workplace.
Work Experience occurs when students, enrolled at a school, work with an employer, without pay, for a limited period of time as part of their formal education. Work Experience is an integral part of the College curriculum.
The Work Experience program reinforces the College mission to develop to develop the whole student.
Participation in the program is compulsory for Year 10 and optional for Year 11 and 12 students.
Parents are invited to discuss any matters relating to Work Experience with the Vocational Education Co-ordinator.
