Good Counsel College operates a number of social justice initiatives throughout the year. Mission and Outreach play an important role in our Catholic Identity and spans both the local and global community.
Regular social justice initiatives include the Caritas Lenten Appeal, St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal and St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal. As circumstances dictate and opportunities arise, the college supports appeals including the Vinnies Winter Sleepout, bushfire appeals, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Relay for Life, Socktober, Do-It-In-A-Dress, drought appeals, environmental initiatives, and recycling campaigns.
Students of the St Vincent de Paul chapter, seek opportunities to educate others and to make the world a better place. Every second year, students are given the opportunity to attend the Christian Youth Ignite Conference and experience four days of real-world formation, encouragement in faith and powerful worship.
Through volunteer work, Year 11 and 12 Catholic Faith in Action students actively live out the word of the Gospel working for the betterment of the local community, spending time at nursing homes, working in community gardens and reaching out to other religious groups within our community to build respectful relationships and greater understanding of others.
